Yes you've got a point but then at times Victor Meldrew talked a lot of sense too!

my parents are going on a coach trip to Europe in June and they have had to find an extra £50 because of the exchange rate.

    Hmmm....

If the exchange rate improves will they be offered a refund?

    Somehow I doubt it....

My ds has just returned from a school trip to Italy--the school said that the trip was costing more than they had originaly asked for when it was first booked nearly a year ago. The rise was due to entrance fees and the cost of public transport. However, the school said they "felt" that they should cover the extra cost and just asked that each child take more spending money than they had first advised.

I think that they could have asked for more, but so many of the families would have had trouble finding that plus the exrta spending money that some would have canceled, even tho they would have lost what they had paid. We would have canceled--tho it would not have been an easy decision.

the thing is though, the pound collapsed against the euro a few months ago and the exchange rate has been pretty static since, so why is the school suddenly now asking for more money and not before?

Perhaps if they had asked for the money before and the pound did recover, then we would all be reading a thread titled "I want some of my £40 back"

No we wouldn't as the trip hasn't happened yet.
