  • I'd use Avira AntiVir and Windows XP SP3 firewall. ZA is rubbish.

Use the standard XP firewall and also your Modem will have a firewall to.

I use AVG antivirus, but people have recomemnded a few on here including Avast.

    My personal choice.

On this netbook (pretty standard at 1.6GHz Atom 1GB memory and XP Home) I use Avira and just the XP firewall with FireFox as the browser and no anti spyware. It works fine and I've not encountered any nasties.

I suppose as an alternative to installing anti virus, firewall, anti spyware the recommendation could be Ubuntu. It would probabaly run faster too.

Staples are selling Bitdefender 2009 Antivirus cheep for £11 for 3 pc's, 1 year and that gives you protection from malware, spyware, adware and viruses. You've got good heuristics scanning too. It's top in the top 10 :)

Theres no real need for a software firewall as you allready have one with windows xp SP2/3.
