Squeaky brakes!!!!!

I own a vauxhall Meriva 56 plate and a few months ago it developed squeaky brakes finally I put it into the dealership on Tuesday to rectify it as it happens 99% of the time .... so it was lovely and squeak free tuesday night and wednesday morning, but i noticed squeaking again when from wednesday lunch time!!!!

The dealership stripped and deglazed the brakes so do i need to wait for it to settle or should i phone them and get them to do it again??

Could be the pads. We always have this problem with Renaukts if they have non Renault pads fitted.

If you press down or lift up the boot handle when parked up does it squeek ?

alternatively open the hatch and press down on the boot floor does it still squeek ?
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Nope .... pretty sure its just the front drivers side that does it when im braking to a halt.

  • Most pads squeal either due to cheap materials, or a lack of copperslip on the rear.

Try getting the car up to a decent speed on a quiet straight road and doing a few emergency stops. Don't hold the brake on though once you're stopped, just drive straight off.

i didnt think renault made their own pads or indeed braking components so this is most odd

if i get squeeky brakes i find some heavy braking and or washing them out helps
  • Yep we have a Renault n the brakes n they have started grinding. Front brakes n discs have been changed n back ones have got loads left on them, so reluctant to get the back ones changed but i suppose they are shoddy brakes. They look like they haven't been changed before.

Grinding is a symptom of worn pads. Are you sure you arent looking at the brake disc and seeing "loads left on." The pad thickness is more difficult to see with the wheels on or the car on the ground.
