Advice please on car rental
As our own car has failed the MOT and we are going away from Monday to Friday, one week in May, we were looking at possibly renting a car. Not having had cause to rent a car before, can anyone offer any advice. For example, is it better to book early and perhaps get a discount, or is it better to leave it until the last minute and hope to get a bargain? Does anyone have any opinion on which would be the best company to go for? We live in a large town, so there would be several to choose from. Anything else that I need to consider?

Book early but the peak rates are during the week. Try and book from a non-airport branch and possibly try folk like AutoEurope. You might have some local operators that might be cheaper than the main operators. Bit of leg/finger work required.0

Thanks for that. Doing a bit of searching now. Have tried one or two of the comparison sites that Martin suggested.0

I rented from Enterprise today; £65ish from 8am til 9 am on Tuesday. Noticed and offer leaflet there - £11.99 a day for Friday - Sunday. Worth looking at. When you pick up you'll need certain types of ID and to pay a refundabale deposit too (mine was £150). I also paid another £40 os so to reduce the insurance excess from £600 to £100. I figured the way my luck's going at the moment, that was a good idea.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
