Eon Age Concern 2 tariff

Eon have a guaranteed cold weather payment of £10 paid after March on their Age concern 2 tariff but they also say in their terms and conditions that they do not give discounts on your final bill. How can the cold weather payment be advertised as guaranteed if they do not pay it on your final bill? Perhaps the Eon representative would like to comment.

E.on, it would seem, are sore losers
. 'Have the temerity to leave us and you can whistle for the discount on your final bill'. I'm sure there's a clever way round this 'ruse' of theres but I'm not clever enough to think of it
. Anyone?

Hi wakeupalarm
Not sure how the Cold Weather Payments on the Age Concern tariffs work when a customer changes supplier.
I have contacted a manager in this area and am awaiting a reply. Will let you know when I have the answer.

Hi again wakeupalarm
I have managed to find out some more info on the Cold Weather payments. It may help if I give some background details as to how these payments work.
All customers on our Age Concern tariffs who take gas from us will receive a guaranteed minimum cold weather payment of £10.
Customers over 60 may receive additional payments depending on how bad the winter has been. This is judged by the number of days the temperature falls below zero between 1 December and 28 February.
The temperature is taken each day at the Pickering Weather Centre in North Yorkshire. Apparently this is one of the coldest places in the UK. :snow_grin
What we guarantee is the payment will be at least £10. So, even if we have the mildest winter on record with balmy January nights and no days where temperatures dip below zero, customers will still receive £10.
For customers over 80 the minimum payment is £20.
The minimum payment is to reflect the average cost for 3 hours of gas fire heating every day temperatures fall below zero during this period.
As this winter has been particularly harsh all customers over 60 on Age Concern tariffs will receive £24.02 (including VAT).
How this works is that at the end of February the payment is calculated based on the above. This is then applied to all qualifying accounts.
Age Concern customers with live accounts during the December - February period will receive this payment. If a customer is changing supplier and the change completes after the end of February they will still receive the cold weather payment. It will show on their final bill.
Hope this answers your question wakeupalarm.
