Priceline - 5* Amsterdam

Hi, I'm new to this site, and was hoping someone could offer advice/info.
I'm looking to book a 5* hotel - central Amsterdam for 2 nights in August.
I started off with a "cheeky" bid of £50 for the above, obviously nothing, but got an offer of a 5* for £81 + taxes etc (approx £180).
2 questions,
1: What sort of bid would get this hotel?
2: Does the rates offered include breakfast?
Thanks, Lynsey

Have a look at Bidding For Travel and Better Bidding for info on which hotels Priceline use and winning bids for these hotels. They are US based so have a currency converter website like XE.com open at the same time.
If you get one of those "counter-offers" you should generally reject them as it is likely you could get what you want for something like halfway between your offer and the counter-offer.
Looking at what you want, you could add City Centre South and North West zones to your bid (one at a time) whilst raising your offer to, for example, £65. This is because Priceline do not appear to deal with any 5* hotels in either of these zones. Read the FAQ's on the above mentioned sites regarding 'free re-bid zones' for an explanation.
As you are not travelling until August, if you get rejected you can leave it 72 hours and start again from scratch.
As a general rule, hotels booked through Priceline are room-only and do not include breakfast although you may be lucky and get one that does.
Best of luck, hope I've helped. This space has been intentionally left blank0 -
Just for info I'm off to Amsterdam at the end of the month and will be staying at the 5* babizon Palace just accross from Centraal station. I won that on priceline at £73 per night. Total charges came to £161. Hope this is of help.0

Hi
I stayed at the babizon Palace last year and loved the hotel. As you say it is right opposit the station. come out look left and it is there on the right, in the corner.
Reception is a tad sterile, you know not quite homely. But lovely. You get a card to access your room and the lifts. Which is good cause there are no stairs. Which means that you have to have a valid card to access the lifts.
Rooms are massive and have king size bed with fab duvets. There is telly with some sky. Bathrooms are great 2 sinks and again very clean. With massive bath towels.
I loved the location of this hotel as it is great for the bars and the red light area at the back of the hotel. Straight across the road is the cannal boats 1st stop. And all the trams leave from here.
Just a great hotel in a fantastic location.
On our 1st night we returned with kebabs and ate them in bed watching telly. Oh and don't use the mini bar - too expensive. Don't even lift things up as you still get charged.
Has tea making facilities and outside our room we had a ice making machine, great for my vodka and tonics i had before we left.
Enjoy the babizon Palace i did.0 -
Thanks for your replies.
The thing is, I can get the Radisson SAS Amsterdam ( 5 STARS) for £195ish with wintersunshineholidays (£210 minus 8%) for 2 nights with breakfasts, so this maybe is a better option.
Any reviews on the Radisson SAS Amsterdam.

Just read those reviews and they sound good. I was pleased with the Barbizon palace, and this sounds just as good. Remember you get what you pay for.0

I also stayed here and thought it was great. Nothing else to add as the other poster covered it all.
Couldn't be handier for finding when you come out of the train station as it has Babizon in massive letters on the front.
Also, the cafe to the right of the hotel has great sandwiches and stuff if you want a quick snack before you retire for the night****************************0 -
Thanks Chris, took a look at your links, but still finding WSH price hard to beat.
Does anyone know if the breakfasts at the Radisson are buffet or continental?
Also if those of you who are going to the Barbizon through Priceline, could you post if breakfasts were included.
Thanks all you people,
