are you planning on keeping the car afterwards, if not getting one justbased on its fuel economy is not so important0

I was planning to keep it for about a year, going to put a tent in the boot and try and see as many places as possible, my boy has just turned 14 and I would like him to experience other cultures.0

A VAG diesel is a good bet. The SDI engines are economical but wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding. I would consider a pug or citroen with a 2.0HDI engine too. These are very economical and actually pretty reliable (cabbies wouldn't use them if they weren't). If worst comes to the worst theres a dealer in every town in France and quite a few in spain too.0
