Simple test for fake ebay emails - Outlook

I have found the following works to see if an email that purports to come from eBay is genuine or not.
If you click “forward” on the email and then let your cursor hover over the link, despite saying something to do with eBay, it will reveal the true address it will be directed to. This is, I believe, because Microsoft will allow you to “CTRL+click to follow link” that may be hidden in a picture.
This is how some of these false emails get you to their site, when you think you are clicking a legitimate address, but it is in fact an image with their address embedded in it. (I may stand corrected on that).
If you don’t like the email as a result of doing this, just add spoof@ebay.com to the header, fire it off and then delete it from your inbox.
I am unsure if any other email accounts apart from Outlook will do this as I only use outlook myself.
I hope that you find this useful to weasel out the false spoof emails.

There is an easier way of course, ignore anything with a link at all as ebay suggest and never log in unless you actually type the address in yourself.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have an even simpler solution...
Get another email address!
I use a GMail address for my bank, credit cards, PayPal and ebay account
Everything else goes through various other accounts all piling into Outlook..
So anything in Outlook mentioning my bank or eBay etc. is faked

Or just ignore all ebay emails- threy always appear in your ebay inbox if they are that important- but thanks OP, just wish my computer wasn't so screwed it would do this (it used to work fine, now it just doesn't do any of that)0
