iTunes from external HDD to new laptop

currently have iteunes loaded onto an old laptop with 10 Gb HDrive and the actual folder and files, music, videos on an external HDD. new laptop has enough space so how do i go about transfering it all over, have already loaded iTunes onto new laptop, what next?

In iTunes, FILE > ADD FOLDER TO LIBRARY

Hopefully you can select the entire collection in one go.

... but before you do that just check inside File > Preferences. There's an option somewhere in there, I can't remember where, for Importing, called 'Copy to iTunes Music Folder' - make sure this is checked, otherwise it'll just add it to the list and point to the external drive...
