Npower up again, when is it time to switch?
Options
Hi,
Looking at the utility suppliers all randomly putting prices up whenever the wind changes direction, I have no idea if switching will ever make sense.
However, having said that the 2 cheapest tariffs for me still appears to be Ebico/Equigas for Gas and British Gas Click Online for electricity. The trouble is I don't believe Equigas have raised prices recently, so no doubt if I jump from Npower they will raise the prices, meaning someone else will be cheaper.
Utilities seem to be a consumer nightmare.
Whats people's feelings on this? Should I stick with Npower until Ebico make the rises as surely they have to come. As for Click Online, its a pretty new tarif so I would hope no rises in the short term (Although Npower have gone a whole 2 months without raising prices grrrrr).
What a nightmare...

My advice is to stay where you are and sit it out.
Then make a comparison (making sure you are looking at the latest prices).0 -

My advice is to stick it out, the only way your'e going to stay with the company with the lowest rates is to keep jumping between them every month!
Every company has to buy their own gas, and while gas prices have drastically increased (for everyone), meaning all companies will eventually be forced to put up their rates... unfortunate for some who has to do it first, like british gas...** i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay **0 -
If you signed up with "Ebico" before the 1st of September 2005 then your price is fixed until the 31st of August 2006.0

Do as we did, send an e-mail to your current company stating you are going to leave them because of the price increases and state that if they wish to keep you as a customer to ring you to chat about the options. This evening Scottish Power offered us a capped rate at Oct 2005 prices till Sept 2007 with no cancellation fees after 28 days, a £25 credit to the next bill and 4 energy bulbs.0
