I Have VM and want to make a one of call to US

Hi
I have to make a call to the us tomorrow, and I have a Virgin Media phone line. I checked the rates and £3.43 connection and £0.40 per min seems to be a rip off. I was going to use an access number like talkntalk but after a bit of googleing I found that VM have block "access numbers" back in 2007. http:// forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=420318&page=2 (had to break the link because of forums anti-spam measures )
in that thread it suggests signing up to 18185.co.uk.
So my question what would be the best way to me to call the US number via VM line and not signing up for anything (as in a long term plan) as its just a one of call
Thanks

Just use one of the 0844 numbers found in the callchecker on this site, just check how much Virgin will charge for a call to 0844.

Looking at it quickly 8p connection plus 1p a minute.0 -

Thanks, for the info. I looked it up and a 0844 205 number id band pg22, but i can find out what pg22 is anywhere on virgins site. which sucks. Also after a bit more googling I found post on this site where VM have over charged 0844 numbers.... actually i have found aload of posts saying how overall crap VM phone charages are.0 -
You'll find the Virgin residential tariff at this address:
http://allyours.virginmedia.com/pdf/002508_010409_Residential_Cable%20V6.pdf
Costs for PG class calls are on page 15. I cannot tell you about the accuracy of Virgin's billing process as I'm not a Virgin customer, but at least these are the rates they say they will charge.
I hope this will help you.

I use bestminutes, have a look on their website, its 1p per minute for either mobile or landline, the search box on their site shows all the countries and the preceding number to put in,but it is what I use all the time.0

Which one is final, what the automated voice says like "Call charges are 2p/min" or what Virgin says on its tariff guide?0
