USB Devices Not Recognised On New Lappy

Hi

I have just received a new laptop and tried to transfer some files from my old computer to the laptop using my USB pen. When I insert the USB pen into the laptop nothing happens at all. It is not listed in My Computer and I hsve checked Device Manager and it doesn't appear to be recognised.

Any Advice

I have Xp and I ahve also tried connecting the printer and that doesn't work either.

Are you showing your Usb controller, with all your usb ports, in device manager.

In device manager under usb controllers there is a USB root hub icon and a pci to ub host icon.

please note the lappy is refurbished.

I'd make sure that your usb controller was enabled, go into BIOS, and check.
