Driving/Parking in Central London
Well, here's a weird Money Saving Tip.
Last weekend I treated Mrs Sauce to a stay in a rather nice hotel near the Tower of London. Being the weekend and with no congestion charges I decided to take the car instead of a train/tube combination. Well, I drove from West London, right across town to The City with little or no traffic jams. There was simply hardly any cars on the road and it was about 3pm on a Saturday afternoon! It was rather a nice experience which took us through Picadilly Circus, around Trafalgar Square and along Victoria Embankment. Anyway the point of this post is that the parking charges for this weekend overnight stay amounted to the grand sum of.....£2.50!! I kid you not. There are six public car parks in the City of London (the square mile), five of which will cost no more than £3 a day for the weekend if you park after 1:30pm Saturday. I stayed less than 24 hours so it cost me £2.50 in total. See the link here.

Think about it, 2 x train fares probably anything from twenty quid each upwards, 2 x travel cards x 2 days another twenty quid, VERSUS £2.50 and about (for me)about a tenner in petrol. In the end it was a kind of no brainer!!
