Credit Card Approval...

Hi All,

Please forgive me if I'm being a bit thick! This is my first post to this site. I recently opened a new bank account and was told from bank (Natwest) after applying for a credit card, that I have been approved. I have today recived an agreement for me to sign and return - which I have done.

I notice on the covering letter, that is says: 'Your application will be processed and subject to checks, you will receive your new Natwest Credit Card and welcome pack in the next 10 days'

Since I originally applied for the card I have gone over my overdraft. Does anyone know what these 'checks' are (I thought they would have done all the credit scoring already)? And will the fact that I have gone over my o/d affect me receiving card?

I appreciate that I could be worrying over nothing, but I've never had a Credit Card before and don't want anything to go wrong!

Thanks for help or advice you are able to give

Sounds encouraging, but always bear in mind that bank staff have sales targets to meet. It's in their interest to persuade customers to apply for as many services (or products, as they insist on calling them) as possible. I hope you get your NatWest credit card, but this is not guaranteed.

Unlike credit searches, which appear on your credit files more or less in realtime, this type of data can take up to a month.

Fingers crossed the negative data involving your overdraft will not have been reported to the CRAs in time to be taken into consideration ;)

    Very best

Hi we have a user on here, NID who was originally except like you but subject to the further checks was declined. I think they carry out a soft search on the CRA they didn't check.
