cost of heating water by gas
I have gas warm air heating and a Janus gas water heater which heats the water for a hot water tank in a cupboard. The ONLY way to control the heater is a black thermostat knob behind a panel in the heater. Therefore it is left on all the time. That is the way it is supposed to work. This uses about 13Kwh of gas a day for one bath and two 5 minute power showers. Plus dishwashing etc.
There is NO immersion heater or thermostat on the hot water tank or a timer.
It presently costs me abot 50p a day for hot water which doesn't seem much until you realise that it is £182 per year.
I am just wondering what other people pay for gas to heat their water by hot water storage versus combi/instant heating?

To be fair, there are reportedly some people who claim their gas boiler pilot light costs them £100 a year to 'run' so, in relative terms, maybe not too bad? Certainly a leccy shower that got anywhere near the sensual experience of a power shower (not counting the addition of the Herbal Essences
) would cost upwards of 30p per 15 min 'indulgence'. Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
We have a new combi and averaged 26kwh a day last year in the summer. That was heating hot water for six (baths only, no shower), cooking every day and an hour of gas fire use on colder evenings. This year without gas fire, we seem to be on about 15 - 20 kwh a day for the same water heating but without the gas fire and cooking less. Bit too early to tell for this year as heating still goes on for an hour in the evening some days.0

Without being facetious, you do mean 'power shower' as opposed to an electic shower? Lots of people on here get those terms confused.
A power shower is hot water from the tank pumped at high pressure, and can use a lot of hot water in 5 mins.
Does your dishwasher use hot water? most are cold fill. As are washing machines.
A well lagged tank does not lose much heat in 24 hours(typically 2kWh) so a combi will not save a lot in wasted heat.(although could be more efficient)0 -
Also without being facetious it is a POWER SHOWER where there is a pump in this thing on the bathroom wall that forces hot water through a spray thing that washes soapy stuff off my skin.
