Hi, I am in need of help, I have cable broadboand but want to move the pc from down to upstairs so I bought Router (safecom) and a USB dongle (newlink)
The pc works fine with the ethernet cable plugged in but with the dongle in will only connect to certain sites, I have tried disabling firewalls etc but still cant connect (Facebook)
Also have the same problem with laptop (borrowed from nephew)
It is driving me round the twist, can someone help please?
TIA

ok from dongle i assume you mean just a wireless antenna as such?
and its probably due to some sort of protection in the router.
i had this problem once, all i had to do was to use the original cd i got with the router and it worked.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
You need to tell us more. What's the error when it won't load a site?
Can you access http://69.63.184.142/ ?They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

No, it'll be a USB Wireless Access Point (WiFi adapter). I've never seen a USB antenna. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.

still not clear what it is, dongles are the usb mobile modems that you get from phone shops for internet on the go, but you have a router so this doesnt make sense??
a antenna would just be something that screws into the desktop to pick up the wireless signal from a router ( sometimes confused with a hub).
so which is it?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

I suspect it's a USB wireless adapter. If I were a betting man I'd say it was this one.
The word dongle is sometimes used to refer to them, and they're more than just an antenna.0 -
try this
- Click on Start -> Run and type in cmd and click on OK
- In the Command Prompt, type in telnet 192.168.2.1 (press enter)
Username = admin
Password = the password used to login to the router interface
- Type in - firewall set IDS blacklist disable (: CASE Sensitive)
- Close the open window
- You should then be able to access this site with no problems.
- Please note that if the router is re-powered for some reason you will need to perform this procedure again.0 -

Strictly speaking, a dongle is a hardware device preventing unauthorised use of software, but it tends to be used for pretty much any sort of USB adapter these days, including mobile broadand adapters. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
