Anyone tried EDF Eco 20:20?

Hi
Don't know if this question has been asked before (I did search, honest, but found nothing) but does anyone rate the EDF Eco 20:20 electric tariff?
I am currently on Economy 7 with E.on. In all honesty I do not use it to its full potential. We used to have storage heaters but as we had gas central heating fitted 3 years ago I have been wondering if it would be better to change tariffs.
Current economy 7 rates as follows:-
Day 29.14p/Kwh for first 225 Kwh per quarter then 13.85p/Kwh thereafter.
Night 4.45p/Kwh between 12pm - 7am.
EDF have been advertising the following rates in my area:-
Day 16.7p/Kwh for first 222 Kwh per quarter then 9.9p/Kwh thereafter.
Night 7.95p/Kwh between 9pm - 7am Monday-Friday then all weekend from 9pm Friday to 7am Monday.
Only electric we use is for Fridge, Washing machine, Tumble dryer (but I am trying to cut down on this!) lighting etc. Cooker and central heating is gas. Sorry can't find latest bill detailing unit split but would estimate currently only 20% of electric used is at night rate.
I was hoping that the new tariff would be of more use to me, the cheap rate weekends really appeal, that is when I do the majority of the washing etc. I was also thinking about getting a dishwasher sometime in the future and don't really like running appliances at night (I have had a washing machine leak during the night in the past!) but often do a load of washing in the evening a couple of hours before bedtime so that would be ok.
Any opinions? Anyone think I am barking up the wrong tree? Thanks in advance.

I'm really interested in finding out more about this too - so hopefully if this is moved to the top then you might get some useful replies.0

I've been thinking about this, if I change to an eco 20 meter and then decide at a later date to swap suppliers again, will I have to pay to have a normal meter put back in? Or will they just add to my existing meters - at the moment i have an oldish meter with an economy 7 meter underneath it.0

what a shame nobody had any answers - I am thinking of eco 20/20 and was told today that if I take the tarriff the meter will be installed free and I will be tied to the tarrif for 1 year - they intend to put a dual meter in and if I convert back to the old type of meter after 1 year I will not be charged for any changes to meters. Although question is a bit out of date I hope this helps you - I thought I would go for it anyway.Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0

You would almost certainly save money switching to single rate tariff. It is hard to save money on Econ 7 if you don't have storage heaters and an immersion heater used at night.
I looked into the 20:20 tariff but found it was way down on the list - there were plenty of more competitive tariffs in my area.0 -
I really fancy this as I have been working very hard recently to calculate every penny of my energy usage and, more importantly, get away from Scottish Power as they've been !!!!!!s with my direct debit.
Surprise surprise though, Eco 20 20 is not available in one area, MPAN 16 - mine! I use approx 65% of my energy on Low E7 at the moment so I think this 20:20 tariff would work wonders for me. I'm stuck with SP until October fixed anyway so hopefully EDF will sort Norweb out in this time.Dannii_B

It appears you'll miss out on 2 counts, Dannii_B
You are correct that the 20:20 tariff is not available to customers in the Norweb area (which I believe is MPAN16)
However, as you use 65% electricity in the E7 period, I presume your main form of heating is from electricity. This too makes you ineligible for the 20:20 tariff irrespective of the area you live, as according to EDF, you are unlikely to attain any sustainable benefit from changing from E7 to the 20:20 tariff

Oh what a !!!!!!. I fail to see why I wouldn't benefit? It means I can boost my heating before 12pm like I have to do now for cheaper?
Oh well, knew it would be too good to be true. They'll never introduce it to Norweb anyway so never mind...stuck with SPOW for now thenDannii_B

Premier is correct, 20:20 is not intended as a replacement for E7.
Whilst you could boost your heaters at cheaper rates - that rate is not as cheap as E7 rates.
Using a very high 65% on E7, I doubt if you will find a cheaper option.
The difficulty with 20:20 is that you will have to carry out an investigation on the percentage of consumption you use at various times of the day/weekend to see if it is viable.0 -
I like yourself have been on an Economy 7 tariff and thought that eco 20 20 would suit us better so we took the plunge. We are now in a situation where we are no longer on Economy 7 because EDF energy have taken over our electricity account, and nearly six weeks later we are still waiting for the meter to be installed!! My other half has rang them several times and informs me it is a total waste of time. Technically we have gone from some cheap electricity in the night time hours to none at all.
I don't know whether you can insist they install the eco 20 20 meter before they take over your electricity account, but with hindsight, this is the only way I would apply for this tariff.0 -
If you read the bumpff in the small print about eco20:20 it states that this tariff is not suitable as a replacement for eco7.
From what I see its an evening/weekend tariff, where the low rate is approx 1p per KWh cheaper, and the normal rate is approx 1p per KWh more than it would be if you had a standard tariff. Handy if your a night owl and/or own a b&b!
I'm assuming from the info on their site that the meter they fit is a four terminal multi rate meter, though I've never seen one in my area (MPAN 17). Anyone with storage heaters will not be able to get the meters fitted (nowhere to wire in the heaters), if you do expect your bills to soar.0
