HELP! Computer won't switch off

Hi

My Pc is under a month old and its suddenly started to not switch off from the start menu option. I have to press and hold the button. Any ideas what is wrong? Also I've set up a user for each family member so we all log in on our own bit, and it won't always log off a member either.

Windows XP.

I'll be back on around 7 tonight.

4743 - What do you mean by reload?

Will-he-payitoff - its not a branded pc, its one that my local pc shop builds themselves so what info do you need and where do i find that info?

Now since I posted this help originally the pc has been behaving and will shut down from the start menu. BUT, what it won't do ALL the time is log off a user from the start menu, only way we can do it is by going through Task Manager.

right click HERE > save as (save link as for firefox) > save it to the desktop and run it by double clicking it. it may require a reboot

UNINSTALL lexmark toolbar
You clearly use the WANADOO toolbar which is a resource hog (And does questionable things)
Id also suggest uninstalling that and using the GOOGLE toolbar in its place

Your still infected (Did you REBOOT as malwarebytes instructed?)

Run LSPFIX

Download HostsXpert
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Security-Related/Hoster.shtml
and then follow the below steps.

* Unzip HostsXpert.zip
* It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
* Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
* click the Make Writeable? button.
* click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
* Click the X to exit the program


Download SUPERANTISPYWARE (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

UPDATE and PERFORM COMPLETE SCAN
(Then goto console and LOGS and post the log it created then untick it from STARTING UP WITH WINDOWS)
