Question about divorce

After living apart for years,we finally got round to divorcing.Last summer we got a form each (nisi?) saying that if nobody objected, then the divorce would be final in 6 weeks.Since then, nothing. Are we divorced then?I was expecting something more final than that.

I would of thought you would recieve a decree absolute to confirm you are divorsed officially.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

You need to apply for your decree absolute, you can do this 6 weeks and 1 day after your decree nisi.

When you're decrecc absolute comes through you'll get an official piece of paper saying you're no longer married

There is a £40 fee to pay for this unless you are on benefits that count for exemption.

Do you have a consent order in place so that neither of you can claim from the other one in the future?

Thanks for the replies.I was at the court yesterday (to drop off my claim for illegal bank charges) and picked up a leaflet on divorce. It seems we need a form,D36,to proceed to Absolute. Both of us are sure that we were unaware of this - maybe a leaflet wasn`t included, but we know now.
