Can anyone help - I'm trying to start an oscommerce shop however the problem is I haven't got a clue how to do it - I downloaded the required programme from the site and had a look at the instructions and it was all double dutch to me - does anyone know where i can find help in creating this site which is worded reasonably easy to understand way as im an absolute computer idiot when it comes to techie computer stuff.
The first line of the instruction page was to upload catalog directory to server using FTP and php files must be loaded in asc11 mode - sorry for sounding completely ignorant but i think i would have a better chance understanding einsteins "theory of relativity"
I would appreciate any help offered.

No easy answer to that, if it was so easy to do everyone would be doing it and earning lots of money.
What program have you downloaded to create the site?0 -

ascii mode
Just type ascii after you've logged on successfully to your ftp server.
If you're going to run a business with Oscommerce maybe you should get some paid support to start with?0 -
Hi mate
OScommerce, unless you have strong programming experience, is a nightmare for the uninitiated. What you 'save' on not paying licence fees will be more than lost on blood, sweat and tears.
There are some easier-to-use softwares that use OScommerce - like Zen Cart - that might be a better option... or even an off-the-shelf solution with full support and backup (where you would pay a licence fee - but it would be closer to the kind of software you are looking for).
My suggestion, however, would be to get a professional in to do this... it really would make your life a LOAD easier. Even if it costs a grand or two to get up and running.
Cheers
