Wedding photo-book

Hi all,
We've decided on our photographer (a family friend who is a graphic designer by trade but has started doing wedding photography in the last few years). He's really good!
Anyway, what was key was getting a photographer who we would pay for his time and to get a copy of the raw images so we can do with them what we like.
He is currently agreeing a contract with Graphistudio to produce photobooks, we've seen a few examples and really like them, i think they're more 'readable' than a traditional photo album and also allow more creative use of photos and the space in the book.
He has suggested that the photobook will cost about 80quid, which seems in line for what it says on the Graphistudio website, however he hasn't mentioned anything yet about the cost to actually put it together (I'd guess it would take time to lay it all out and touch the photos up). Does anyone have any ideas how much it might cost? As he is currently working this all out I'm sure he will let me know in the future, and we will probably only order a photobook after the actual wedding.
has anyone got any advice/tips on photobooks in general?

If you have a mac computer, or know someone who does, you can create your own photobook for approx £30. We have a macbook and was able to produce one following a friends wedding. It's a very easy and simple process using the iphoto software, and you email it to apple who print it. It's very professional and great value for money.
We're not having an album from our photographer for this reason, and we were able to negotiate a great price for 2 photographers from first thing in the morning to last thing at night for £750! Most come in at that for 4 hours and an album! (He travels too!):rotfl:I'm Cosmo, Cosmo Kramer! :rotfl:0 -
Do you think you will be able to do your own once you have the photos?
I am going to upload mine to Aldi photos and create my own after the wedding
Hard cover book starts from £16.49 which is great value. Iusually order my photos from them online and I can vouch for the quality and speed of order processing.

what is a photobook? is it the same as an album?QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0

A photobook is where the photos are printed on the pages of the book, as opposed to being stuck, or slipped in. Same as a regular book, with the colour photos on the pages.
Bonusprint have some good prices, starting from £3.99 for the booklet. ASDA's start from under £15 too.0 -

If you click the first link in my previous post, you can see an example of a photobook, flip pages and read what you can doCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I m thinking about using Bobs Books..... have heard some good things about them!0

Hi
As a photographer myself I can advise you that Graphistudio unfortunately do not offer a wedding album for £80.
If you have no little or no budget for a photographer and you are reasonably adept with photo editing then you will probably be happy with a product from the likes of bobs books or photobox.
what I can tell you though is that the colours will fade or become irregular after about 12 months, the pages will not lay flat, the spines will distort and pages will become ragged arround the binding. If there is any element of dampness in the air whatsoever (eg transpoted in a cold car in winter) the pages will absorb that moisture, ripple and the book will not close nicely.
I say this from experience, I have had several of my sample albums re printed by these manufacturers to demonstrate this alsongside my proffesional books.
In a normal, slip in style or 'storybook' album the images are printed onto single sided, conventional, light exposed, silver photographic paper, in the case of graphistudio and other storybook manufacturers these are then bonded to either side of the heavy card page of the album. Whereas with the £30 albums discussed here, the pages are lightweight double sided pages that are printed with inkjet onto both faces of the page.
Please dont think I am pedaling my wares here, but after your wedding day the only thing you will have are the memories and your photoalbum, please think twice before skimping on your album.
Hiring a wedding photographer? Remember to check out their samples and previous work before you book !
