80Gb EXTERNAL hard drive - £49.99

Hi,
I've been hunting around for an external hard drive and managed to find an 80Gb one for only £49.99. That's literally half the price of the next best external drive, and that was only a 40Gb one.
It plugs into a USB2, and the beauty is that now, instead of backing stuff of my hard drive to CD-RW, I can simply just store it all on my external drive.
If anyone wants one, it's the Western Digital 80Gb external hard drive, available from the Amazon website...and if you order now, there's no P&P to pay either. Delivery, is 3-5 days (Free) or 1 day if you want it urgently (..but i think you have to pay extra for this).
...even if you don't want one yourself, perhaps it'd make a cheap'ish Christmas/Birthday present ?
Hope it helps!

No reliance should be placed on the above.

Western Digital are one, if not, the best make for hard disks...so this is a good price....better than the Freecom rubbish that pcoverpricedworld were selling the other dayStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60

not a bad price, when my 400GB run out i'll get one ;D0

Here's a little something I've been doing for a while:
Go to ebuyer.co.uk,
type in the following quickfinds: 036369 , 043759
Basically, it allows you to use any drive you want externally. Also means that if you want further storage, all you need is another drive... (so £30ish for another 80 gigs etc)...0 -
also try these which provide a added protection of a case around the drive.

or

You will just require a normal internal HDD of your choice.0 -

Cheers - the Western Digital drive is a bit large, but perfect for my purposes!

If you are looking for a greater capacity than 80 GB the see
http://www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=10273585&pid=204&rstrat=3101
you can get a lacie external USB 2 hard disk, capacity 250GB for only £115
This works out to £0.46 / GB (as opposed to £0.63 for the originally posted hard drive)
I just bought one and am very happy with it. although the delivery company that savastore uses (Amtrak) were useless and i had to collect it from their depot in the end.0 -
I got an 250gb external usb2 Maxtor one touch hard drive for Christmas from the misses. It will be useful for all my video needs particularly as I do quite a bit of video editing and conversion from vhs and video8 formats to dvd-r.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
is it the 25th already?!0

As my IBM drive became a deathstar last week and I had great difficulty recovering any data off the drive I am looking to be able to back up my main drive easily.
Does anyone know for sure if these WD drives can be formatted like internal drives with mulitiple partitions?
Do they show up as an external storage device in explorer and not mess with the drive letters already taken?
Can you use xcopy or xxcopy to mirror the contents of any partition on your internal drive on it?
ThanksAll Dell'd upseveral times over
