As an aside to this discussion, the abi list of occupations (Which most of the Insurers use) includes Mature Student, this can be cheaper with some Insurers. Its best to check how the Insurer you use defines a Mature Student but a common definition is someone aged over 25 who has gone back to education.
With regard to the discussion, I agree with Raskazz and Quentin, the way to solve it is to speak to your Insurer and ask them. If your worried about speaking to "(i.e. a bored out of their mind call operator who doesn't care" then just ask for a superviser as they are more experienced.0 -
The OP should declare their occupation as:
Student - PhD research student part time or full time
Engineer - part time or full timeThe man without a signature.0 -
Done the job checker on martin's link:
Student paying 330 becomes
mature student pays 333
and research scientist pays 270
so research scientist is a good saver. I guess you would have to ask them, but i know they'll say student

For the record the MSE job checker is a very basic guide and would not be accurate with all companies so do not rely on it totally.0
