First Direct CC min payment

in Credit cards
Just wanted to let people know that First Direct credit card has started acting strangely.
On my last statement there was a balance of £50. I paid £25 online myself, and expected them to take the minimum Direct Debit payment amount (given as £5) as usual, in addition. But they've only taken £3.50.
In the past, they've always taken the Direct Debit as well even if you've paid off the full amount, so if I want to pay it off I just subtract the minimum amount from what I pay. ie in this case I would have paid them £45, they should have taken £5 by DD, and no interest would have been due next month.
I e-mailed them to ask what was the calculation for £3.50? , but they gave a stupid reply that ' the majority of the amount owing was paid off so only £3.50 was due'. Huh?
Could this be a sneaky trick to stop people from clearing their balance, and make them pay interest? Look out!
