I am looking to get a 0% balance transfers card and have a couple of Q's
- If approved, how long does it take to get the card? as i am moving house next thursday.
- Do the balance transfers have to be done immediately or can they be done within a month or so?
I only need the card for max 12 months so repaying it is not a problem (no need to switch it in future) as it is just to cover a cash shortfall this and next month for some essential jobs that have been done on my new house.
Can anyone recommend a card that is processed quickly and will give an ok limit. (i only need about £1500 at the most, probably a little less)
cheers for the help!

Allow 1-2 weeks for delivery of card after you've been approved.
Promotional balance transfer offers usually last for three months from approval date.
I recommend the MBNA line of cards.0 -
It sometimes takes 4-5 weeks from applying to get the card. I've never had a card in less than 2 weeks.
Set up a mail redirection for a month from the Post Office - it will cost you slightly over £7.You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
nzseries1 when would i need to set up the redirection by? does this take some time to come into effect. Also the house im in currently is rented and post still comes for old tenants, will it all get redirected or just stuff addressed to me/my wife (one of the old tenants has been getting letters about unpaid debts which we have phoned the companies to inform that he no longer lives there!)0

The mail redirection goes by surname, so only the surname you give will be redirected. You need to go to the Post Office with proof of name and address. You need to give them a week's notice, so I guess that means you better do it today or tomorrow if you decide to go that way! I would - you don't want the new renters using your new credit card. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! What card issuers did you dealt with? 4-5 weeks is a really long time! Did they send you an agreement to sign then you send it back?
In my case, online applications with instant decision is the fastest way to getting a credit card. AMEX and MBNA are two of the cards which I have that are sent out to me within 2 weeks of application.0 -

M&S and Ulster Bank both took 5 weeks.
Doesn't Martin's (or perhaps stoozing.com's) tarting guide say to allow 6 weeks? You're spelling is effecting me so much. I thought credit cards and such could not be redirected to prevent fraud and Royal mail would return it to the sender??0

thanks all for your replies. think i will wait until i have moved. I know this can be a problem but given im not after a substantial amount, worst case scenario i will have to pay a couple of months interest and tighten my belt to clear the debt quickly!0
