Help please!!!

Can anyone advise me where to go with my bank charges reclaim?
I recently lost my job through ill health I have been diagnosed with ME. I have called my bank the co-op to ask if I could claim recharges though hardship but they told me that they were not looking at any reclaims at all. I said should I put in a letter and they said it wouldnt make any difference. 2 weeks ago I requested a breakdown of my charges and sent out a cheque. When I called they said they had no rteceived the letter even though it was recorded delivery and that says they have received it.
The bank really knocked me back and I feel like I'm doing something that I shouldnt! So much for ethical banking!!!

    Co-op bank is one of those banks I am looking at for contact telephone numbers for various departments. Has the cheque been cashed? They have 40 days to produce the details to you. Once you have the charges details you can send the first letter to Co-op.

    No the cheque has not been cashed yet I checked this morning. I sent the letter to Balloon St. However I was told by the telephone banking section that Balloon St would just send the letter to them and wouldn't do anything with it. I asked for the address of the telephone banking service and was told not to bother writing to them. I did eventually get the address which is:- CO-OP Bank, PO Box 100, Delph House, Skelmsdale, WN8 6NY. They were so rude and unhelpful, it made me really angry as they "pride" themselves on ethical banking. They charged me consistently £40 even if I was 1p over my overdraft limit, and always took their charges before DD's were due so that I incurred more charges from them (£40 again) and whoever the DD was set up with. I know that I have paid 2-300 pounds in charges monthly over a long period of time.
    Thanks for the advice about the 40 day wait period I read that in the guidelines but wondered if there was a short cut as I have no income besides child benefit and am desperate not to loose my home.

    If the cheque has not been cashed, have you got proof it has been received by the bank? Was it sent recorded delivery?

    Yes i sent the letter and cheque recorded deliery, still not cashed it tho.

    can your bank cancel overdraft without informing you Natwest looks like have cancelled overdraft my hubby put in finicialhardship claim, woke up this morning looked at online banking they have took all monies they havnt informed us

    No they should give a notice period. When did he send in his claim and which address did he use?

    Can anyone help me, need a bit of advice!
    I am thinking of reclaiming bank charges, but have an overdraft of over £2k which is regularly used. If I ask for details of my charges, could the bank decide to call in my overdraft? or would they not play games like that?! There is no way I can pay it.

    They won't recall your overdraft.
