Waiting times for a scan at Musgrave Park?

I know it's not money saving but you guys always seem to know the answer to my questions!
I've been told I'll be sent out an appointment for a scan of my back at Musgrave Park Hospital. Anyone one how long this could take - am I likely to be talking weeks or months?
It's just that I'm thinking about booking a holiday and don't want to be away when I'm likely to be offered an appointment.

MRI scan I take it? I saw my consultant on 6th December at Musgrave and had my scan appt mid January which I thought was good considering Xmas was in the middle of that. Havings said that, I'm still waiting for the results.0

Forgive me if I'm wrong or its not covered by this, I though the NHS has a relative new system known as 'Choose and Book'. In which you chose your appoiment rather than given a date0

That's what happened for my initial appointment but when I saw the consultant I was told I would be sent an appointment for the scan. The initial appointment came through a 3rd party private healthcare company - apparently this is done to reduce the length of NHS waiting lists.Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
Mine was like that too Jenny-Wren. The appt was sent out and it suited me anyway. I think I may have had to wait slightly longer too as I had specifically requested the open MRI scanner rather than the enclosed one. I have to say that the open scanner was a truly pleasant and relaxing experience and I actually fell asleep during the scan.:o0

My son had an appt in Royal Childrens Hospital on 10/4/09 and the appt letter for an MRI scan on his knee came through today for 11/5/09.
I hadn't realised until I read this post and then looked at the letter again that its an open scanner
I was just sent an appt without any choice of dates or times. At least they haven't given us a 9:00am appt coming from Fermanagh, as sometimes happens!!0 -

I got my letter - my scan is at the end of May at a clinic on the Malone Road. Let's hope it brings an answer to what's going on with my neck!!!!Norn Iron Club Member 3300

Made of brass? sorry couldn't resist....
Hope it all goes well for you. For what it's worth I had a CT scan in The Royal and had the results that day.Dave0 -
Couple of friends of mine have had this done. The waiting list to get a scan doesn't seem so bad, but he's been waiting absolutely ages for the results.0

If you go private you can have it done sooner0
