Armed Forces Weekends

Options
I have heard on the grapevine that some of the Merlin Group theme parks (Madame Tussauds, Chessington, Thorpe park, Alton Towers etc) held an Armed Forces weekend last year where it was free entry to the park for serving personnel and their dependents:beer:.
Apparently there will be another one this year on 27/28 Jun:T but I have no idea which parks will be participating or what offers/discounts/freebies will be available.

Does anybody know any details, I have tried looking on the theme park websites but no joy:confused:

Just spent some time with Google only to discover that US military (past and present) seem to be the only ones who get discounts. Some US places even honour UK military! Not a lot happening in UK though

The offer for last year was -
Alton Towers theme park is confirmed as being available on 6th, 7th and 8th November 2008 for HOTEL GUESTS and ANNUAL PASS HOLDERS only.

Tickets for Hotel Guests are priced at £17.50 per person and hotel rooms are from £99.

The park will be open from 10-4pm with a limited selection of rides. Sunday 9th will be open to all guests.

This included NHS Staff, Armed Forces etc.

Not really a saving when 2.4.1 can have you a nice entry of £15 pp whenever you want.

    Regards,

    Alias

My husband has been on exercise 3 times in american now and he gets free entry virtually everywhere because they have so much respect for their own military and also foreign ones. He just had to show his ID card and got in places such as Seaworld for free. Unbelievable considering we get nothing at home.

If you go to Madame Tussauds go by train using a travel card. Pick up leaflet from most London stations to get half price entry with a travel card.
