In an occult book which I read some years ago, I saw reference to the mystical properties of pyramids, apparently if a blunt razor blade is placed under a pyramidal shaped object, it will magically become sharp again !
I use a rechargeable so I could not test the claim but I did place my fully discharged Philips shaver underneath a mini wooden pyramid (which I knocked up in the shed) overnight. I have to report no mystical property manifested itself.
I surmise that the claim is bunkum or else Ronco would have been knocking them out for £4-99 years ago.
  • Just had to get a new razor because the blade clamps broke on my old one, picked up a mach3 green one and went to get some extra blades, went to boots and asda and asda was about £8 compared to £13 in boots for 8 blades.

Here's my comments on this thread...

I've found the Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razors to be much better than any I've had in the past, including the Wilkinson Quattro razors. The downside is the high price of the replacement blades. I recently bought 8 blades for £5.20 on eBay (including p&p) which is much better than the £10 in shops.

The times I've checked in the US, I've actually found blades to be *more* expensive there (around $9 for a pack of 4 Mach 3 Turbos).

I find the useful lifetime of blades to be around 2-4 weeks - more than this and they start hacking your face instead of the hairs!
