hi all,
i was wondering if anyone can help me? im currently in year two studying fashion but after having a really **** year i would like to retake or change my course. im supposed to be going into my placement during the summer but have had very little support from my tutors or uni in general. if i pass year two which i doubt it i would like to go into my final year but after speaking to my tutors they seem unhelpfull about it and keep palming me off on each other. does any one know what the rules and regs are for changing course/resitting the year or what to do about going into my fianl year. im at breaking point but i dont want to drop out of uni cos i have worked so hard for it. any help or advice would be much welcome xx

From a financial point of view you'll have more success by resitting the year as the funding will cover this. Unfortunately, if you try to start another course, you won't be eligible for funding for all three years as you've had it for two years already.0

In terms of regulations of resitting/changing course, ONW is right about the finance unless there's severe migrating circumstances i.e. serious illness preventing course completion.
With regards to the regulations surrounding the actual resit/changing itself, this I believe depends solely on the rules of your particular university/department.
For example, for my course/department a student may change to another course within the department with little hassle. After completing the first year they can decide to apply to sit the rest of their degree elsewhere in the department. Though they may have to sit some modules with the first yrs just to bring up to scratch. If you fail a module, this doesn't necessarily stop you from progressing to the next year, but you will have to resit the failed module again - usually without attending the lectures because they won't fit into your timetable.
Is it your individual tutors who won't help you or your overall personal tutor?
The discussion of resits usually comes up with your personal tutor after the results for the year have come out, as does discussions of course change (unless it's stated in the department that students can interchange at set points in which case it's usually discussed at the end of term).0 -
