how long did it take for you to win your first prize?

roughly how many comps do you think you entered before you won?

I am not the most avid of compers, but I entered loquax coms for 3 seperate days ( all of them) and won 3 prizes.

Not big mind you- a brilliant picnic & walking set with hamper of posh food, a CD and er er some tin foil! But I didn tput a lot of effort in and was quite chuffed with what I got.

Would have liked a holiday though!! :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I started around this time last year and one a prize in the first couple of weeks, it was just a goodie bag, nothing big. I used to only enter competitions that I was interested in, likes of tv's dvd players and money etc. I never won anything since that frist prize.

At the start of this year I decided i would enter every competition possible that is listed everyday. Theres still the odd few I dont bother entering but enter I the majority of them. It took me until around March before I started winning things.

My advice is just stick with it, dont give up, your luck will come and you will go on a roll and start winning things. I was like you thinking I was was never going to win anything, then it started :). You could have won something already and havent got it yet. I won a pc game that I entered in December and only got informed about it about month or so ago.

    Dont give up :)

I entered quite a few comps (worked my way through all the pages) in January and have kept up with the newly listed comps. I won my first in February and since then I've have a fairly steady stream of wins (although a few of them were instant spin wins) This last couple of weeks have been good for me though. I guess it's that many of the comps I entered at the start are ending.
My advice as a beginner is to keep entering the comps as often as you can (I only enter comps that I want to win or comps with prizes I know family and friends will like) The wins will eventually come... just be patient :D

I had my first win after a few weeks, however looking back it was a rubbish T-shirt that I'll never wear.

I'm more particular about the comps I enter now and usually get a couple of wins each month not including instant wins like Galaxy and Cadbury.

I hardly won anything at all between January and March this year though but April has been good to me.

Only enter comps for things that you actually want though, there is no point winning something that will end up in the bin when there could be a fellow comper who would have been thrilled with the prize.

If you keep entering comps you WILL win something at some point and as they always say, you have to be in it to win it:rolleyes:

I had my first win after a couple of weeks of entering. I only enter competitions for prizes either I or family/friends could make use of. I hardly ever enter ticket competitions and just as an example, if there are 10 pages of comps ending 21/04, I would probably enter around 4-5 pages of them (leaving out the ones I wouldn't want/make use of). Obviously the more comps you enter, the greater your chance of winning a prize.

Don't give up (although I have come close a few times :D).

I am having a really dry spell at the moment, I think I must be one of the few compers left who has yet to win anything on the Galaxy or Cadburys instant win comps!!
If at first you don't succeed ........ ;) Alternative autism therapies should be free!!
  • arr thank you so much i just keep at it and just wait for the prize and when i feel down in the dumps i will come back here and have a look.
  • I won nearly straight away (digital camera) but I didn't know about it until it arrived 3 months later. In the meantime I won absolutely nothing else :rotfl:.
I also only enter for stuff I want or need so I probably do around a 5th of the competitions listed on here.
I have had 5 wins worth between £100-£500 and around 70 worth less (some very small). I think I've entered around 28,000 comps altogether so my win rate hasn't been particularly high but I only do it for fun so I'm not too bothered really :D
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

You aren't alone - instant comps hate me. The Galaxy one is driving me nuts and it took me 4 months to win a packet of chocs on the cadburys one.

I started in December last year and won within a week but it was a prize for my daughter ( a signed poster of cartoon art) since then I've been really lucky I feel and have won 4 or 5 things a month but I only enter for things I or my family/friends would like. I never enter romantic hols or spa breaks etc (cos I just would never be able to get a babysitter)

I do a good hour of entering comps at lunchtime and then if I can find the time, another hour at night. When I first started I went to the very last page of the comps and worked through absolutely all of them (the ones I liked the look of) until I got to page one - it took me a fair few days but once that's done it's easier to keep on top of them. I'm a bit behind this month due to internet issues, personal stuff going on and being sidetracked by my other hobby this week (Huge craft fair up in London) so now I'm going to have to work through a fair few pages again ;):D Have just started doing the postal comps too, I do find it hard keeping up with the daylies and monthlies so it's all just about finding what works for you :) It'll start happening soon. I had a win this month from one of my first entries back in Dec!
