I have 2 months to make £1500 - how?

Options
Hi guys

I'm currently out of regular work and planning a trip to North America at the end of June. To pay for everything for the trip I need to make around £1500 between now and end of June = 2 full months.

Clearly I'm going to struggle to find an employer willing to take me on for such a short time period, and don't fancy office temping if I can help it.

I'm helping out a friend labouring in their yard but thats only 1/2 days a week.

Other ideas I've had are:

* Ebay
* Paper Rounds - how much roughly can I expect?
* Leaflet Dropping - how much roughly can I expect?
* Surveys / Mystery shopping / Online reviews - how much roughly can I expect?

I'm based in the Newcastle-under-Lyme / Stoke-on-Trent area, any more tips welcome!

cheers! :D
Aim to raise £1500 for trip to America in late June, saving between mid April - late June 2009

Current total from working / Ebay / other fund raising = £400 - £1100 to go!

Office temping will get you the money. The rest of your suggestions are reliant on right place, right time.
  • Can anyone recommend any good temping agencies around North Staffordshire?

Very much depends on the person of course, but I'm going in for a medical trial this week which, if I get accepted, will pay approx £750 for an overnight stay and a couple of post study visits.

In the past I've done 2 of these, and made approx 4 grand between them, in much less time than you've got.

Like I say, not for everyone, but I don't know a better way to (legally) get that sort of money in a hurry.
  • Which companies have you done these trials with Rex?

id say its a bad idea to plan such a trip when your out of work!
they may not even let you in the country when they know you havent full funds for the trip.
have you tried alton towers for immediate temp work?

Astra Zeneca at Alderley Edge does them, not far from you.

How can you stopped from entering a country through lack of cash / a job?

Alton Towers is a bit out of my way as I'm without a car, will look into it though, cheers

They run buses for staff from Leek, they may do from where you are too. It's worth checking with them to see what they offer as they recognise it's not easy getting there for many people.

Just from watching a few of those reality programmes on airports and things - Customs can stop you entering if they feel you don't have sufficient funds to support yourself. I don't know the purpose of your trip, but if you don't have a work visa then Customs will want to see that you have enough funds to last the duration of the trip and that you aren't planning to take on work illegally.
