i cant understand it , we pay 180 py atm , its now saying £260 i thought it was max £5 increase

IIRC that was the increase over the last 2 years, Im in the same boat, rediculous, what a jump.

I dont do diesels.

Not so bad only £215. lol, its all confusing nowadays with car tax.

A lot of the links posted on here are for the rises announced in the April 08 Budget and were scheduled to come into force on 1st April 2009. The government have pulled back on this due to the backlash about the huge rises and the fact it was backdated to cars from about 2002 (like mine!) The 13 bands will still be introduced but the rate rises for this year will now be a lot less (I think this was announced as part of the pre budget report in November)

Hope that helps someone. If i have made a mistake I am sorry but politics isn't my forte. My car tax was going to jump to £300 according to the 08 Budget so I was interested in this issue.
