My mother has a Post office Instant saver account,can she request a cheque
withdrawal over the counter or must she send away for a cheque ?

You probably have had no replies because nobody knows, other than the info on their website - http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/content1?catId=23200510&mediaId=66400710#38600265 - have you tried asking them?How can I manage my account online? The Post Office Online Account Management allows you to:
- view balances and transactions
- transfer money to your nominated account
- request a call from our Customer Care Team
