Bluescreen and recovery

I've just seen a friends laptop that bluescreened on Sunday night, failed to boot on Monday and just got into vista through the safe mode prompt, upon which it booted fine in normal mode. What scans do we think we need?

If you can, email me the .dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump and I'll have a look at what exactly has been going on around the time of the crash0
