Which Gymophobics did you use to go to?0

I think it's the Newark one. I was walking past the place on Sunday and saw the above notices on the door. It's very strange that none of the staff knew it was going to close.candelabra wrote: »Which Gymophobics did you use to go to?What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

From past experience the staff are often the last to know. 10 Gymophobics branches went bust last year (out of about 40), mostly with the staff unpaid. The whole concept of Gymophobics as a viable business seems rather shaky as even 2 of the 3 company-owned branches have gone into liquidation since December, and if they can't make a go of it themselves what hope is there for the franchisees?0

Well went to curves today after work and they have been great. Honoured my last 4 mths membership so i can use the facility for free and only thing they ask is that after that i stay with them for another 4 mths, after that i am free to leave should i choose to do so.
None of these deals that gymophobics did, every member pays the same amount every month by standing order and you must give 30 days notice if you wish to cancel. With gymophobics they always had deals on, myself included got a discount of £144 because i signed up for a year, so members were always paying different amounts, which is maybe where they went wrong, not getting a set amount of funds in every month, you were also tied in for 1 year.
I've decided to join because i know i won't get a refund from gymophobics for the last 4mths of my membership remaining because i paid cash, so i'd rather continue on somewhere else.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
It seems that address is cursed . I was talking to somebody yesterday about the gym closing, and she told me that she had been a member of a previous gym that occupied the same premises. That also closed down unexpectedly, leaving the woman and her daughter out of pocket because they never got any of their unused subscriptions back. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Really....wow, i never knew a previous gym had occupied the same premises. I only remember a cash converter type place being at the ground floor level, but never anything upstairs.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160

The staff should have known, its happened to many others in exactly the same way, staff knew of financial difficulties in March 2008!!! Don't believe all you are told. Too many in identical circumstances ......why hold an open week, take all the money and then just go? and where are they now???0
