Hi
I have £1000, I was looking at an ISA, but I am quite interested in stocks and shares, I know I can lose money but would be fun to give it ago, but i have no idea where to start. Anyone got any guides on shares, or wouldnt it be worth it for only £1000?
Thanks

Have you got any savings at the moment?
I wouldn't suggest going straight into S&Ss without first covering savings basis.0 -

Apparently not.
Risk and reward (usually) go hand in hand. You could achieve over 100% growth, in a good fund, in a good year. Or even more than that, in direct equities.
You could also pretty much lose the lot. Some funds are down over 50% in the last year, and some equities - well, are down 100%.
Typically, novice investors should not consider pure (direct) equity investment, as this strateg carries amongst the highest levels of risk.
Good luck, though. For the avoidance of doubt: I work for an IFA.0 -

The amount you're talking about is relatively modest. As such I'd say a read of this thread is a good idea:

Go via the cashback sites mentioned to earn £85 up front.
Personally, I'd suggest building up the cash savings a little before banging money in to stocks and shares. Perhaps £1,000 in a cash ISA earning 3% or more and then £50 a month in to the L&G ISA of your choice!0
