Need a bit of cheering up. I am in one of those moods:mad::mad: I'm just wondering as you get older does the money situation generally get any better? Since I started working 10 years ago for an eye watering £56 a week I have always been totally broke, earning in or around the min wage, there is never any money for damn all by the time you pay your bills etc, and in the case of an emergency you have no option but hit a credit card and thus get into debt you can't pay back. Sure I have tried all these little ideas for making a few extra £ like surveys, I got one through today make 10p for 20 mins of your time, How generous you are Ciao. Do you think it will always be like this? Am I liable to be broke until the day I day? Never being able to go anywhere, Buy the things I want etc etc

I know it feels like a drag but hi :-)
First off - check and double-check if there's any benefits you're entitled to - for example council tax benefit, housing benefit if you pay rent. Working tax credit even if you have no children or a disability. Get a Citizens Advice Bureau appointment - they do evening sessions, and check all options for help first.
Then there's budgetting and shifting finances/utilities to get the best deal - Other people will be along really soon with more useful info than I can give!0 -
nireland...i totally sympathise. im always skint and it sucks. and i also ask when will it END!!!0

Hi
could you do a training course - one of the ones whilst you're working?
or maybe an evening class?
Good luck0 -

Hi
Not sure what you mean by 'older' but I am 42 now  and on a lot of days I think no, it doesn't get better!
But on many other days, with a lot of support from the people on here; I do see light at the end of the tunnel. Even on days when I don't seem to be making progress I remember that I'm not actually adding to my debt -even if I'm not always reducing it

Yeah the OH enters some in those womens magazines. The best we ever won was £1000 of holiday vouchers, Quite a prize you would think. Not really as at the time I agoraphobic and even if I wasn't, we couldn't afford the spending money, bloody typical isn't it. The travel agent would let us exchange them and only I could use them, In the end I sent them back to them.:( Isn't that just the law of sod there, especially as travelling is a dream of mine. Even now I don't think I could even sit on public transport with out a panic attack. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I used to ask the same question.....life has dealt me a lot of ups and downs.
My late teens and early 20's was lots of money and I couldn't understand why everyone else was moaning about the lack of it (it was in the last recession), then it all went wrong shortly after my first son was born when I was 23.
We went from pretty well off to err.....broke.
Years and years went by struggling with debt from a house repo and we despaired of ever seeing light at the end of the tunnel but we did finally and life became good again (took until my almost mid 30's).
Then hubby left 3 years ago and I am broke again...but at least no debts (we had never relied on credit cards, finance or loans - the repo scared us too much!).
So, I am in the same boat really, it was nice to be able to go shopping without really worrying about the food that was going in the trolley unlike now, when I walk around with a calculator to make sure it doesn't go over my stupidly low amount I can spend. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Register for Lightspeed panel surveys. When they send you one, you have to answer questions to make sure that you are 'the right kind of person' for that survey, but they're easy to figure out!! Most surveys give (lots of) points which can be redeemed for actual Paypal MONEY!! :rotfl:
In the last couple of months, i have gathered enough points for £15 of Paypal money, which can go to a debt or a 'freebie' treat to get you through the rough days (although that is a dangerous habit for me to get into!!)
Also, things like ebay, car boots etc. How about posting an SOA for the experts here (not me!!) to mull over?Oh for Goodness' Sake!! Here we go again
Total debt £4,839.51 (Still adding it up though)
Now : £4, 759.810
