End of the day you werent in the hospital car park you took a calculated risk that you would be back in the 30 mins but werent so its fair to say you lost the risk and there for should pay the penalty. Im sorry that you feel a a £30 fine is worse than speaking to the doctor about the health of your mother........
exactly! can't believe they are blaming the doctor for their own mistake. The 30 minute bays are probably meant for dropping off patients at A & E etc or for collecting discharged patients - not for visiting people in hospital. The facts are that they stayed over the due time and some other poor devil with an ill patient in the car or who was trying to collect someone was probably having to park miles away. Pay the fine and park according to the length of your visit next time.0 -
bootman did you get in touch with macmillan? or failing that could you enquire if you have ambulance cars in your area we have them here they are run by volunteers we also have volunteers round about here who will take you anywhere within reason for a small mileage charge its all properly set up of course, i should have said the ambulance cars are used for taking people to clinics etc0

OMG, I thought this was the vent board. Roswell and Gregg1,
I wasn't moaning about paying a £30 parking fine, I know he was parked longer than he should have been and no the spaces weren't for dropping of and picking up patients they have absolutely nothing to do with the hospital they just happen to be on the main road outside the hospital.
I'll say it again I was merely venting my frustrations about how life can be a b***h sometimes. If you read my posts properly I state that I was mad at how when one thing goes wrong everything seems to go wrong.
I am paying the parking ticket because we were in the wrong, he's been driving for 20 years and this is only his 2nd ticket so that shows that he never breaks the law when it comes to driving, given the fact that he is a bus driver and has been for the past 16years and has never had an accident.
I believe that rules are made for a reason and should be followed, parking restrictions are brought in to stop roads becoming congested during rush hour etc. and I believe that if you park illegally you do deserve a parking ticket, but in this case he had every intention being back in time but due to unforseen circumstances he didn't make it. I just wish that you had read my posts right and seen that I wasn't moaning about the parking ticket (the traffic warden was well within his rights to issue it) but moaning about life in general.
Bootman I know that in Scotland we have Patient Transport Service which is part of the Scottish Ambulance Service who pick up and drop off patients going in for day-care. The only drawback with this is that you could be waiting around in the hospital for a few hours waiting to get a lift home. I know from experience when you'r ill you just want to get in and out of the hospital as quickly as possible so for you the car probably is best but you might be entitled to some help for fuel. I would ask in the hospital next time there should be someone there that can help you. I know that some people will probably say that you're moaning about the costs but petrol isn't cheap and the wear and tear on your car will cost you in the long run and when someone in the family is ill the last thing you need is to be worrying about money to add to the stress you'll both already be going through. Definately ask at the hospital they'll give you any help they can. Hope all goes well for you.0 -
Anneik,
Some of us sympathsis with you. This country is full of people pulling a fast one, parking illegally, using diasabled passes wrongly, parking in parent and child bays wrongly and a genuine case like yours has to suffer. I and many other know the point you were trying to make and understand. One day, the ones that don't understand may find themselves in a similar position - then they'll understand!0 -

Come off it!. We read your post properly and it is clear that you were trying to lay the blame for your fine at the door of the doctor who you thought had wasted your time. If you don't want people to give their opinions, don't post the thread! And by the way iatliastart, I make a point of parking properly and paying the appropriate fee therefore reducing the chances of me ever being in that position in the first place!0 -
Gregg1 You obviously haven't read my post properly as I wasn't even at the hospital the post was about my husband and it was him the doctor spoke to. Had I been there I would have stayed and spoke to the doctor to allow him to go and move the car. I would never lay blame on anyone trying to do their job as the doctor was and as the parking bay was not one you pay for (had it been he would have paid the appropriate fee) it was a free short stay parking bay on the main road. I just hope that you never get caught short and end up in a similar situation. As I said 2 parking tickets in 20 years because he always pays the appropriate money or never overstays his time limit.
If I'd been trying to blame the doctor then surely I would have appealed and got a letter from the doctor to say he'd delayed him but I didn't, I paid the fine because it was his fault and he did overstay.0 -

What ARE you on about? Have YOU read your own post? To quote you "so angry, he would have been back in plenty of time if the doctor had not wanted to see him..."!!!! Of course I know its about your husband but it was YOU who posted the thread, I was replying to you - thats how it works on here - as I said, if you don't want the opinions, don't post it. If I did ever get caught for parking incorrectly I would pay up and not moan on here about it. Lets just let it go now that we have all said our piece.0
