Selling an ex-council house

I whole heartedly agree with you Wiseinvestor.
As I am unaware of the full circumstances surrounding Dotty-totty's acquisition of this house, it may be unfair to cast judgement.
In the majority of cases that I am aware of, a great deal of people have abused RTB to the detriment of this country's social housing stock.
Snickergirl's post sounds encouraging though and hopefully opportunists may be discouraged from purchasing and selling on social housing just to line their own selfish pockets in future!0 -

If you didn't want to live where you are, would it not have been fairer to ask to be re-housed thereby releasing your house to someone who needs it rather than limit it to those who can afford it?
I have lived in this property for 12 years and previous properties for 5 years so i think ive paid a good wad of rent money, don't you????????
I would stay in this house if it was big enough but having added a conservatory and a loft conversion it isn't big enough for our growing family.
I can appreciate your comment if i was trying to make a quick buck off the state, but i think you should consider how you could be making an assumption about someone from a simple question!

social housing stock = my taxes allowing someone else to live at sub-market rents even though they quite probably earn more than meI think....0 -
I have to agree with wiseinvestor social housing is just that Lots of people where I live are selling at huge profits and moving abroad etc whilst those who work can't afford a home There is something wrong there surely? If you can afford to move on as you get older and your fortunes improve the council should re allocate the property to those most in need There shouldn't be families with kids in b&b's etc whilst others are living it up on the costas!0
