Child Trust Fund - doorstep caller

Options
We had our CTF voucher allocated to Foresters by the Inland Revenue as we didn't do anything with it for a year. My wife called me earlier today to say that a man from Foresters had turned up at our house unannounced to "get some more details" about us and to arrange an appointment to come and see us to talk about the CTF. He is a financial advisor according to his business card.

I am highly suspicious and think he will just be trying to flog us more of their products. I can't think what there could be to talk about re the CTF. Has anyone else had this experience and should I just cancel the appointment?

Sounds like a con artist to me! Phone Foresters and check if he's legit. If he isn't, keep the appointment and call the police!

Foresters operate a tied salesforce. Its not a con and he isnt a con artist. They are just the last of the dying breed of insurance agents.

Cancel the appointment as its just on opportunity to do the sales process and if you need advice you should not use a tied sales rep.

Thanks for the information. I rang to cancel but he said there are some forms we need to go through as a result of the CTF being allocated to them by the Inland Revenue, rather than us actually applying for it. Is that true?

If you didnt chose the provider yourself and HMRC have allocated it then there is some information needed but nothing that cannot be done via the post. They want the sales rep in your home as its the only way home service salesforces can get to sell to you.

Thanks again. I'll just have to tell him I'm not prepared to discuss anything other than the details they need for the CTF.
