I've got a Gateway Laptop Model MA7, I've got 2 recovery discs and an Operating System Disc. Does anyone know what the procedure is for restoring the laptop back to its factory settings, that is, the state it was in when I bought it?
Thanks
Thanks

Probably not, because it's not running in the Windows environment when you do the factory restore-but why don't you just search that link for the info for your particular model. The info should also be in the user manual you got with the laptop.
I trust you are aware that you will lose all your data and aftermarket programs if you run this.No free lunch, and no free laptop

You've probably guessed that I'm not that clued up on PCs and laptops hence my slight confusion. I asked the question because the screens that are given in the document you provided the link for are not the same as on my laptop and I also don't have the:- Start, All Programs, System Recovery, then click
System Recovery........ provision in my Start Menu.
Just found the manual for my laptop on the Gateway website that may solve my problem.
Thanks for your help

System Recovery/Restore within Vista is entirely different to Factory Restore by Gateway. If you read the manual it should explain the difference, and which is more suitable for your particular situation. No free lunch, and no free laptop
