My son has been dry during the day since September however I want to try and stop the night nappies. He will be 3 in June and I was looking for advice on whether it was too early.

His nappies are still wet in the morning so is it a good idea or should I leave it a bit longer

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hello

I think with my 2 I waited until their nappies weren't wet in the morning.
In fact with my daughter as soon as she became dry in the day she automatically was dry at night so I stopped using the night nappies because they were dry each morning and not needed.
My son was in the night nappies longer and from what I remember I just waited until they were dry most mornings.

Don't suppose it will hurt to give it a go and see?

Can you find out when in the morning the nappy is getting wet. The first thing I do when I wake is go to the toilet.
My thinking is, that if your DS is waking at 8am but going to the toilet straight away then. It maybe easier to wake him at 7.50am and take him to the toilet. If he has managed to hold it all night it will fill a nappy in one go when he does go.
Put him to bed and then check the nappy before you go to see if it is wet. Then get up before he wakes and check again. It'll be trial and error then to see how long after waking he goes.
    Good luck
  • hello, with the first 3 of mine I just waited until the nappies were dry in the morning..that was about age 2 1/2 yrs.

the 4th one is now nearly 3.5 and still wetting at night so is still in night time pull ups. have tried waking her and putting on toilet, still having to change wet beds. I don't think it's worth trying until you are getting lots of dry nappies in the mornings, its not worth the hassle!

also, lots of children starting school are still not night time dry,so don't worry too much yet.

    Hiya,

I have twins that have recently turned three. Beth has been dry during the night for months and so I stopped using pull ups with her ages ago, although I still have a pampers night thingy on her bed under her sheet. Ben still isn't quite ready however when he has a nap he doesn't pee himself any more when he wakes which is a really good sign that he is almost ready.

I guess my advice would be to wait a bit longer until you are sure your little one is ready. Why give yourself any extra work? I am sure you have enough on your plate without changing sheets every day and your son will only get upset when he has an accident.

Some kids though will use a nappy just because its on, even though they are capable of going without. With both of my two, I never had a nighttime accident once nighttime nappies came off, even though they were never dry by morning with nappies on.

If you feel he might be ready, I'd pick a time when the weather and drying is good, pop a waterproof mat under the under sheet, and go for it. If it turns out he's not quite ready, you can always go back to nappies for a little while longer, and it won't be too much hassle to get the sheets washed and dried.

My older child was dry by day at the age of nearly 2, and nighttime nappies came off about 2 months later btw. The younger one has learning difficulties and wasn't dry in the day until she was 6, but nighttime nappies came off again about 2 months after we knew she was consistently dry by day.
