Thank you for your response, Pavan !
Believe it or not, I have now spent an entire 60 minutes calling them on an 08000 number from my mobile, this will make for a nice Orange Mobile bill come the end of September !
Needless to say I did not get through to anyone
Just wondering what next to do, I now have three pounds left to spend !?!
Hi LadBroke and thanks for your reply.
You could try and go into your local DWP offices for some face to face advice, alternatively the local benefits office could also give you some advice and possibly allow you to at least the number from their phones.
It may be worthwhile speaking to the gambling charities for advice also.
I hope this helps.

Need advice on a deeply worrying thread I viewed regarding bankruptcy / nil tax code and resulting loss of Housing Benefit (HB) -
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=750075
I am going to Court on Monday 3rd to petition for bankruptcy following extensive and helpful advice from CCCS. I am in receipt of HB. When I receive a Nil Tax code my local authority may view the new net net pay figure as income and subsequently I will lose my HB award and likely to receive an overpayment demand. Apparently, they regard the new net income figure as my claimant income despite the money going direct to the OR. Are CCCS aware of this happenning to others? If this does happen to me (even without an IPA in effect), i will be destitute. Please see the thread for info..
Many thanks, Matthew
Hi Matthew and thanks for your post.
I’ve read the concerning thread and I must admit I have heard of rare instances of this happening before. It doesn’t necessarily mean that this will happen to you.
As you’ve already spoken to us I’d recommend that you give us a call for some more advice, if you mention to the bankruptcy department that you have spoken to me I’ll make them aware of the thread and your concerns.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Hopefully you can set my mind at rest.
I voluntarily went bankrupt in 1999 due to personal reasons.
Due to unfortunate circumstances resulting from the 2009’s recession, I found myself unemployed and unable to make repayments to my creditors and sadly the circumstances haven’t changed for the better.
I have completed my bankruptcy forms and want to ask whether my previous bankruptcy (of over 10 years ago) would have an affect my future one?
Many thanks.0 -
shouldnt be an issue being so long ago from the 1st bankruptcy
worse case the receivers MAY ask for a deeper interview but highly unlikelyFriends help you move. Real friends help you move bodies.0 -

Hi there,
As someone else has mentioned this shouldn’t be a problem as such a long time has passed since your previous bankruptcy.
They may interview you in more detail and possibly impose a bankruptcy restriction order if they feel it’s necessary (http://www.bis.gov.uk/insolvency/personal-insolvency/bros-and-brus).
I hope this helps.

Dear CCCS
Just wondering if you could offer me some advice - been told our house is worth 125k now was 139 when I took out my mortgage - I have 106k left to pay on it - It is a joint mortgage - I have 20k worth of debt and wonder if I took out an IVA or went bancrupt what is the likelyhood of them taking my home into consieration even though there is not a lot of equity in it - I am on a CCCS plan but its going to take me years and years to pay it off at the moment - Just worried that i will lose my home especially as my mum is disabled and we have had the house adapted slightly for her needs - Any advice would be great thank you0 -
hi i have never spoken about my debts and its starting to catch up with me
i have got a debt of £10,800 from a house that got repossed, £1,200 from a visa card, £2,400 from a loan and a debt of £1,200 from a ppi claim company that have sent a collector to my parents door threattening to take things from my parents address.
i have not paid anything on house, visa or loan for over 5yrs but now i just want to get rid of them all and start a fresh with my partner. all my debts are from a previous partner.
i have been looking into bankruptcy. i work full time and we have 3 children in our home and i work full-time, working out our living costs leaves us with less than £50
any advice would be helpful0 -

Hi win123 and thanks for your question.
From what you’ve mentioned, an IVA could be an option but I can’t say for certain without looking at your situation in more detail.
As you’re already on a DMP with us, just give us a call so that we can go through your options.

Hi valvercorsa and welcome to the forum.
You’re right that bankruptcy could be an option for you but we’d need to look at your situation in a lot more detail to be able to say for certain.

I have been divorced from my husband about 4-5 years and don't see or speak to him (he is currently overseas), We do still have a joint account together that he uses as his current account, we just never got around to taking my name off it. If I go bankrupt will they freeze this also? or will they check first? if they do they will see I haven't paid into there for years. I just don't want to go bankrupt and them freeze his account - he would go mad, understandably!0
