Should I leave a negative?

I recently had to open a Paypal dispute for an item I didn't receive. The item was sent by 1st class post and the seller has no proof of postage so it looks like I will probably get a refund. He has accused me of actually receiving the item and claiming a refund as well.

On looking at his feedback he has 6 negs over 12 months, all from buyers who never received the item and had to open Paypal disputes. On all the cases he has left them nasty false positive feedback, with 1 having been removed by Ebay which I assume was for the same thing.

I really want to leave him a negative but I've a lot of stuff I was going to sell and I don't want his nasty comments on my feedback, especially if he's going to call me a liar!

Does anyone know how long it takes Ebay to remove unfair feedback? What would you do?

If you think they deserve a negative you should leave a negative. People not having the courage to do so is what corrupts the whole idea of feedback
  • If he leaves false positive feedback you can comment on it. Perhaps pointing people in the direction of his feedback history? Don't worry about it though, most people won't trawl through your feedback looking for problems if you have a good positive percentage.

If you are using the same ID to buy and sell, and it sounds like you are, definitely block him from bidding on your future sales.

If he leaves a false positive just report him to ebay and they will remove the comment and put a warning on his seller dashboard for misuse of the feedback system.

  • Thanks everyone for your replies. You're right, I will not be a wimp and leave him a neg as other potential buyers should be warned about this seller
