0800 Vs 0845 and where to get it

Options
Hi

I am going to get either an 0800 number or 0845 for my business, not sure which? I have found a company that for the 0845 you pay only a one off fee and no diversion charges, I was just wondering if anyone has tried using companies that supply 0800 and 0845 (other than BT) and how reliable the service is?

Thanks

Ian

If I need to use a business from the yellow pages, I will always choose ordinary landline numbers and 0800 numbers over 0845. Just something to consider when you're making your choice.

A lot of people have phone packages that mean that landline numbers are free or at least very cheap and 0845 becomes very expensive and can put people off.

I hope someone can come along and give you the pros and cons from a business point of view.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

It think it was pointed out in an episode of the last series of Dragons Den by two of the panel that when looking for a service in Yellow Pages they never go for a company with a 0800 number, or with a big ad, as invariably it's used by a below par company trying to draw customers in, by preference they'd go for a local company with a geographical number as they percieved they were more likely to get better service.

Customer savvy companies with a 0845 number also provide their geographical number for the reasons stated in previous post.

If there were a company with only a 0845 number and one with a 0845 number and a geographical number, I'd try the one with the geographical number first.

Hi, I think 0870 or 0845 numbers are Ok for business Online as it gives you a National Presence & also gives some revenue back fom the call ie approx 3p a min, 0800 are numbers are ok but can be very costly to yourself depending on which line of business you are in ???, like said above if you are advertising locally many people like to see a local number they can recognize 7 would only generaly phone 0870 0845 or 0800 from recognized companies like Kwik fit e.t.c,
I would be intersted in what line of business you are in, I hope my 2 penys worth has helped,
btw you shouldnt have to pay for an 0845 or 0870 number i will find the comapany i got mine from & a good number(s) too
    08** 3000 446 - 08** 3000 456 totaly free
    Regards

Thanks for the repies, I'm a photographer. I agree with the point about local people calling local numbers, the reason I was thinking of getting one is that I am going to the customers home and will therfore be covering a much broader area (upto 100 miles). Another reason is wanting to move out of where we are and possibly into a new area code and I am having 10000 promo cards printed next week and dont want to have to reprint them along with other stationary.

    Thanks Again

0845 numbers tend to be disliked as much as 0870 numbers by Joe Public.
Have a look at https://www.saynoto0870.com to see what i mean.

I have used these people https://www.resource-utilities.com in past for 0800.(I am not an agent by the way!)
They dont charge connection ,or rental, and the rate is cheap, they also still have some good numbers available for free.

    How about 0800 695 7627 which is available,which
could also be presented as 0800 695 SNAP. :D

You will find people will ring an 0800 first, rather than a 0856, 0870, 0871 numbers, free is always the best. Search google and compair peoples rates.
    Kind Regards
