On your laptop you can change the security setting on your 'Preferred Network' from WEP to WPA.
Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
Right click on your Wireless Network Connection and select 'Properties'.
On the Wireless Connections tab select the name of your existing 'Preferred network' and click 'Properties'.
Change the 'Network Authentification' and 'Data encryption' to match whatever you set in the router (WPA2 and AES??).
