Amazon Returns Policy - DHL or return label

I have purchased a pair of shoes from Amazon and need to return them as they are too small.
There are 2 options: DHL pick up, or return via royal mail.
The DHL option means you don't pay when DHL pick up the package, but Amazon say they deduct the cost from your refund. Has anyone recently done this and do Amazon deduct the cost? Is it a reasonable cost as DHL are not cheap!
I'm tempted to just take it to Post Office and take the hit on the postage via that method, than risk the chance that Amazon may or may not deduct the DHL delivery cost.
I had to return something to Amazon before and am sure this wasn't an option, but just a pre-paid Royal Mail label.

I returned some boots to amazon via DHL and they gave me a full refund, making no deduction for the cost of the return postage....0

On the other hand, I returned something that wasn't quite as described - a different model to the one they advertised. I phoned them first as I wasn't prepared to pay return postage. They sent me a prepaid DHL label by e-mail and I ordered collection via the DHL link they provided. It was all very straightforward.
However, when I got the refund, they had deducted £5.01 for the cost of return carriage. I e-mailed them and very quickly got the £5.01 refunded. They also gave me a £5 credit (which I haven't used yet)to my Amazon account for the "inconvenience".
Just glad I had phoned them first as otherwise I would probably have been landed witht the charge.0 -

I have had two pair of boots from Amazon. They were both from Office size 8 but they seem to be more like a 7. Cost £3.50 each for postage to me so wasn't sure how to return. Most likely car boot them. Don't buy from Office if you have big feet. lmao.0

Least you won't have to put up with people haggling to stupid prices.0 -
