Speaking as someone with a bipolar diagnosis who has managed to exert a reasonable control over mood swings. (although I do find tolerating fools kindly difficult) I would welcome a support forum for bipolar providing it was aimed, not at supporting bipolar's in their depression but was aimed more at using diet, supplements, and behavior therapy to modify extreme behaviors.
My improvement started when I started to understand the inflammatory nature of depression and reduced the inflammatory content of my diet.
Plasma free polyunsaturated fatty acid levels are associated with symptom severity in acute maniaOur preliminary results suggest that, in susceptible persons, low plasma levels of free EPA compared with AA are related to the severity of mania.
Getting rid of all sources of Omega 6's The Devils Fat, while improving Omega 3 intake along with reducing all other sources of inflammation (weight loss, exercise, stress reduction) while raising vitamin D (brain anti inflammatory agent) status 25(OH)D to 150nmol/l also supported the severe reduction in sources of omega 6 arachidonic acid.

But Bi polar isn't the same as clinical depression, so I don't see how those threads can really help.

While the presentation of depression in bi-polar may be different, that is not evidence that the underlying causes of bipolar/seasonal/other depressions, don't share features in common. But Bi polar isn't the same as clinical depression, so I don't see how those threads can really help.
Isn't it common sense that obtaining the vitamin D3, omega 3, status our DNA evolved over hundreds of thousands of years to work best with while living at this latitude naked outdoors, is probably a good start, in a similar way only a fool would run their car without ensuing tyre pressures and fluid levels were at the makers original specifications.

I agree Bipolar isn't the same, which type are you? I'm type 2 & it can be a struggle sometimes can't it! Bipolar isn't all about depression so I agree it's not really relevant to the depression threads, my money troubles come from when i'm high!0

See if your local library has it in then you haven't got to buy it; it is a very good read.*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*

Hi
Why not nip over to the Disability and Dosh board and start a thread? I'm sure I've seen people mention this and it's a friendly place!

I agree, this book is excellent. Apologies if you can't find the book in a Nottinghamshire library, I have had my copy for a year now (due to other bipolar symptoms!).
Gone ... or have I?0
