Car Insurnce Excess Problem/Kind Of!

Hiya Guys, Been a member for a Looonng time now and the site has helped me out alot, But this is my first post, Sorry if its in the wrong section guys.


At the end of last january, I had a crash in my car while visiting family in bristol, Bearing in mind at the time i was 22, And paying nearly £1200 a year for my car insurence, I thought id just send the car off and it wud get repaird, Oh no, I had to pay £500 Excess, With i thought i would get back when they found out i was not a fault (And i genuinly wasn't).

However, The couple that hit me, Were also on holiday, And were from liverpool, And 7 months into arguing, A whitness popped up, You geussed it, From liverpool, So i lost! And lost my £500 Excess....!

Now this is were the problem lies, I needed a new door, Tyre, passenger side Susspion AND arm,annnddd a new passenger side bumper!!

Just over a year later, The door is a differnt black, The bumper unclips on speed bumps, The door trim hangs off, AND TO MAKE IT worse, The Susspension arm SNAPED this weekend!

Im just after some advice a to were i wud stand on the work and with the insurence company, As this is the recomended garage, And it should be up to a standard!

Have i got much chance of kickin up enough fuss and gettin my £500 back, Coz its cost me £200 For the new susspension!

Broker is Swinton And the Insurer was Zurich

If you used their approved repairers then the repairs are normally guarantees for between 6 months and 3 years (Depending on the Insurers).

It sounds like they may have either used pattern parts and / or poor workmanship.

You would have been best ringing them before you had the suspension work carried out as they would normally want you to give their garage the opportunity to repair the damage. They would probably want to see the damaged suspension that was replaced as well
Your best bet it to speak to Swintons if / when you don't have any luck speak directly to Zurich claims.
